Student Perspective Week 3 – Student Nick Eggers
Let’s check in with Nick Eggers who is a student at LEARN who just finished his third week of classes. LEARN why he made a switch to a career in web development and how LEARN is helping him gain the needed skills for the transition.
1.What made you decide to choose a career in web development?
I have worked in web development for the last 5 years. I have spent time as a product owner, business analyst, and scrum master. I really enjoy being around the creative scene and having to develop within deadlines.
2.Do you have any past educational or work experience in web development?
I have my scrum master and product owner certifications from the Scrum Alliance. I also received my Project Management Professional certification from PMI from my PM time before working in the software development field.
3.Were you nervous about switching careers?
I was and still am nervous about switching careers.
4.Why did you choose LEARN Academy?
I choose LEARN because I felt that the curriculum was well rounded and relevant. The biggest factor was the network it has and the internship which is included.
5.What week are you in? How are you liking your experience so far?
I am in Week 4. I am really enjoying the class thus far. It has been A LOT of information to digest however it has been fun. Its fun to look back and see how much I have already learned in 3 weeks.
6.What advice would you give students choosing to enroll in LEARN?
I would tell students to get as much exposure to the tech/dev world before they join. I think this will help them better understand what to expect but also relieve some stress because they can see its a continuing learning process forever.
